Selection finalised for ESP Works in Progress 2022|23!

With the Coproduction Forum just around the corner, MEDIA-supported initiative European Short Pitch is delighted to announce the selection of four works in progress which will complete the line-up for ESP 2022|23.

As well as supporting short film projects through the development stages, the European Short Pitch programme also dedicates a space for a select amount of works in post-production, where the participating filmmakers are provided with the opportunity to find a co-producer, complete their film and subsequently, promote it on a European level.

The works-in-progress selection for this year features projects from up and coming talent who, between them, span a background of 5 different countries:

Honeymoon  by Alkis Papastathopoulos / Greece, produced by Merricat Film / Maria Hatzakou

One Day Something (Terrible) is Going To Happen by Dalija Dozet / Croatia, produced by Wolfgang & Dolly / Tamara Babun & Matija Drniković

Place the Sun Sets; The West by Mohamed Al-Amin Zouiten / Sweden / Morocco, produced by Plattform Produktion / Claes Hedlund

Scales Fell From Their Eyes by Coline Confort / Switzerland, produced by Climage / Pascaline Sordet (Focus Switzerland)

The list includes 1 documentary, 3 live action fictions and thanks to a new partnership with the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, ESP is very pleased to have the chance to focus on the emerging Swiss scene, with the inclusion of a Swiss production.

Amongst the topics explored, we see both examples of strong voices of activism taking the stage, putting a spotlight on societal challenges, as well as more abstract pieces which explore and experiment with the structure of storytelling.

The works in progress will join the 12 projects in development at the Coproduction Forum (9-10 February, 2023, on site and online & 13-15 February, online), where the respective creative teams will present to ESP’s industry professionals, both on site during the Festival Travelling, Rennes, France and online, via the dedicated ESP platform, powered by Wyth.
