ESP has a big announcement! We know that you haven't heard from us in a while, but that's because we have some exciting news!
After 7 years of being the Head of Script Department of NISI MASA, Wim Vanacker has chosen to delve into new adventures. Together with Jérôme Nunes and Marija Fridinovaite they have made European Short Pitch a solid, trustworthy brand, that more and more people are willing to take part in, wouldn't you agree. There would be no NISI MASA without European Short Pitch therefore we are very thankful to Wim for his hard work.
But fear not, Wim has found a great replacement, who is willing to take upon the new challenges of ESP: Julie Marnay.
Julie studied communication in Paris and firstly aimed to dedicate herself to a press agent career, she had work experiences at la Cinémathèque française, MK2 and La Semaine de la Critique, that she joined in 2008. After 2 years, a new position was created within the structure and she became Responsible for Short Films, in the Film Department. She was the main contact for short films’ producers and distributors and had in charge to follow up the preselection process. She worked with over a hundred directors and film’s crews who were mostly making their first steps in Cannes. In 2014, she coordinated the Next Step workshop for the first year; a program launched by La Semaine to support short filmmakers selected for the competition towards their first feature film.
After a decision to open herself to new challenges and leave Paris to move to Marseille, she got the opportunity through Wim to take over him at the Head of the Script Department for ESP. A new position that allows her to fulfill her longings: keep working on the discovery of young talented filmmakers while exploring another face of film production!
